Publication Ethics

Global Academic Spectrum International Journal is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity, transparency, and ethical publishing. The journal expects all authors, reviewers, editors, and other participants in the publication process to follow recognized principles of responsible research and scholarly publishing. This Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement applies to all manuscripts submitted to or published by the journal.

1. Ethical Principles

The journal aims to ensure that its editorial and publication processes are conducted fairly, objectively, transparently, and with appropriate confidentiality. Editorial decisions are based primarily on the academic quality, originality, relevance, ethical standards, and suitability of the manuscript for the journal. The journal does not tolerate academic misconduct, plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, manipulation of data, duplicate publication, or other unethical publishing practices.

2. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submitted manuscripts meet appropriate academic and ethical standards.

Authors should:

  • Submit original and previously unpublished work, unless otherwise permitted.
  • Ensure that all sources, quotations, data, figures, tables, and ideas taken from other works are appropriately acknowledged and cited.
  • Provide accurate and reliable information and data.
  • Not fabricate, falsify, manipulate, or selectively misrepresent research data or findings.
  • Avoid plagiarism and all forms of inappropriate use of another person's work.
  • Ensure that all individuals listed as authors have made a substantial contribution to the work and have approved the final manuscript.
  • Obtain appropriate permission for copyrighted material where required.
  • Disclose relevant financial or personal conflicts of interest.
  • Inform the journal of any significant error discovered in a submitted or published work.
  • Cooperate with reasonable editorial enquiries concerning the integrity of the manuscript.

Individuals who have provided limited assistance may be acknowledged rather than listed as authors, where appropriate.

Changes to authorship after submission should be supported by appropriate justification and, where necessary, agreement from all affected authors.

3. Plagiarism

Plagiarism is considered a serious violation of academic integrity. The journal does not accept manuscripts containing plagiarism, including substantial copying of text, ideas, data, images, figures, tables, or other intellectual material without appropriate acknowledgment.

Submitted manuscripts may be checked using appropriate plagiarism-detection or similarity-checking procedures. Where plagiarism is identified, the journal may reject the manuscript, request clarification, withdraw the manuscript, or take other appropriate action depending on the circumstances.

4. Fabrication and Falsification

The journal considers the following practices to constitute serious academic misconduct:

  • Fabrication of data, results, sources, or research activities.
  • Falsification or manipulation of research data or results.
  • Deliberate alteration, omission, or misrepresentation of information.
  • Manipulation of figures, images, tables, or other research materials in a misleading manner.

Where such concerns arise, the journal may conduct an investigation and take appropriate editorial action.

5. Duplicate and Simultaneous Submission

Authors should not submit substantially the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Duplicate publication or substantial overlap with previously published work should be disclosed to the journal and appropriately referenced. Where duplicate or redundant publication is identified, the journal may reject the manuscript or take appropriate action concerning the published article.

6. Authorship and Contributorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a meaningful and substantial contribution to the research or manuscript.

All listed authors should:

  • Have made an appropriate contribution to the work.
  • Approve the final version of the manuscript.
  • Agree to its submission and publication.
  • Accept appropriate responsibility for the integrity of the work.

7. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and editors should disclose any financial, professional, personal, institutional, or other interests that could reasonably influence the research, review, or editorial decision. A conflict of interest does not necessarily prevent publication or participation in the review process. However, relevant conflicts should be disclosed so that they can be appropriately managed.

8. Ethical Research

Authors are responsible for ensuring that research involving human participants, animals, personal data, or other ethically sensitive subjects complies with applicable ethical requirements. Where required, authors should obtain approval from an appropriate institutional ethics committee or review board and provide relevant information in the manuscript. Authors should protect the privacy, confidentiality, dignity, and rights of research participants.

9. Peer Review Ethics

Reviewers play an important role in maintaining the quality and integrity of scholarly publication.

Reviewers should:

  • Evaluate manuscripts objectively and professionally.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding manuscripts under review.
  • Not use unpublished information for personal or professional advantage.
  • Identify potential conflicts of interest.
  • Provide constructive and evidence-based comments.
  • Notify the editorial office if they believe they are not suitably qualified to review a manuscript.
  • Inform the editor of suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, or other serious ethical concerns.

10. Editorial Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for managing manuscripts fairly, objectively, and confidentially.

Editors should:

  • Make editorial decisions based on academic and ethical considerations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and related information.
  • Avoid conflicts of interest in editorial decision-making.
  • Ensure that manuscripts are handled appropriately through the editorial and peer-review process.
  • Address credible allegations of academic or publication misconduct.
  • Provide authors with appropriate opportunities to respond to significant concerns when necessary.

Editors should not use unpublished information obtained through the editorial process for personal or professional advantage.

11. Confidentiality

Information relating to submitted manuscripts, peer-review reports, editorial discussions, and other confidential publication materials should not be disclosed to unauthorized persons. The journal will take reasonable measures to protect confidential information throughout the editorial and publication process.

12. Corrections and Retractions

The journal recognizes its responsibility to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the published scholarly record. If a significant error is identified in a published article, the journal may publish an appropriate correction, clarification, or other notice.

Where an article contains serious errors, unreliable findings, ethical problems, plagiarism, fabricated or falsified information, or other circumstances that compromise the integrity of the publication, the journal may consider withdrawal or retraction in accordance with its applicable procedures.

13. Handling Allegations of Misconduct

The journal may investigate credible concerns relating to:

  • Plagiarism
  • Fabrication or falsification
  • Duplicate or redundant publication
  • Unethical research
  • Authorship disputes
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest
  • Manipulation of the peer-review process
  • Misrepresentation of sources or research findings
  • Other forms of academic or publication misconduct

The journal may request explanations, supporting documentation, or clarification from the relevant parties. Where appropriate, the journal may contact the authors' institutions or other relevant organizations regarding serious allegations.

14. Complaints and Appeals

Authors may contact the editorial office regarding concerns about editorial decisions, publication procedures, or ethical matters. Complaints should be submitted with sufficient information to allow the journal to understand and assess the concern. Where appropriate, the journal will review complaints and appeals fairly and without unnecessary delay.

15. Editorial Independence

The journal seeks to maintain editorial independence in its academic and publication decisions. Editorial decisions should not be improperly influenced by commercial interests, personal relationships, institutional affiliations, financial considerations, or other inappropriate factors.

16. Artificial Intelligence and Automated Tools

Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of manuscripts submitted to the journal. Where artificial intelligence or automated tools have been used in preparing a manuscript, authors should follow the journal's applicable requirements regarding disclosure and responsible use.

AI tools should not be presented as authors or used in a manner that compromises originality, confidentiality, research integrity, or the reliability of scholarly content. Reviewers and editors should not upload confidential or unpublished manuscript material to external AI systems where doing so would compromise confidentiality or violate applicable policies.

17. Post-Publication Concerns

The journal welcomes responsible communication regarding potential errors or ethical concerns in published articles.

Individuals who identify a substantial factual error, possible plagiarism, research misconduct, or another serious concern are encouraged to contact the editorial office with relevant evidence. The journal will assess credible concerns and, where appropriate, take corrective action to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

18. Commitment to Ethical Publishing

Global Academic Spectrum International Journal is committed to continuously improving its publication practices and maintaining a responsible academic publishing environment. The journal expects authors, reviewers, editors, and other participants to act honestly, professionally, transparently, and respectfully throughout the publication process.

The journal reserves the right to update this Publication Ethics policy when necessary to reflect developments in scholarly publishing standards, ethical guidance, technology, or applicable requirements.
